Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is the white residue that appears on paving stones and retaining walls after they are installed?

It is a curing agent called efflorescence.  It takes approximately one year to work its way out.  A cleansing product can be applied to speed this process up if so desired.

2.  Why aren’t some of the spaces in-between my paving stones filled with sand?

The specifications on paving stones conclude that the joints only need to be filled three-quarters of the way to maintain their integrity.

 3.  Do ponds require a lot of maintenance?

No.  Once the pond has a proper ecological balance it takes care of itself.

 4.  How often should I water trees and shrubs?

This answer depends on soil type and temperature.  Typically, the average for trees and shrubs is 1″ of water per week.
